We are excited to announce drone videographer Sam Greenfield, fresh off the 2018 Volvo Ocean Race, will be joining us in Annapolis for the J/24 & J/22 East Coast Championships.
If you don’t know Sam, chances are you’ve seen his work. In addition to his innovative drone training assistance for America’s Cup Oracle Team USA in Bermuda, Greenfield sailed the last two Volvo Ocean Races as an embedded reporter. It was in that capacity that he was the first person to successfully launch a drone from a competing ocean racer to shoot video. Here’s a quick story about Sam’s impact on sailing already: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qNkr9rU81z8
Sam will be bringing his talents to film and photograph this year’s East Coast Championships and help teams interested in incorporating drones into their sailing programs. Thursday evening at 6:00, Sam will provide an informal presentation and discussion on drones where he will be available to address subjects ranging from choosing equipment, safety, obtaining footage useful in coaching/training, and answer questions.
Sam will also be offering the opportunity for a limited number of registered boats to purchase training video that he will shoot during the regatta for crew training purposes. Please contact regatta co-chair Jim Bonham at Jamesbonham1971@gmail.com if you have interest in this opportunity to learn details.
SSA’s Carlos Linares and Steve Cofer will be teaming up with Sam throughout the weekend as well! The drones are warmed up and ready for another action packed J/24 & J/22 East Coast Championship!
